Background
In Southern Australia a group of determined volunteers are using cutting-edge technology and indigenous wisdom to transform over half a million hectares of degraded land into thriving ecosystems.
This pioneering fund, supported by Prism, is not only planting trees but also planting the seeds for a sustainable, self-sufficient future—while maximising donations to make every pound count.
Problem
This fund is co-creating a blueprint with researchers, farmers and first nation leaders for organic reforestation in remote regions around the world. They are in daily battle with stubborn grass lands that replaced the original rainforests and developing strategies to help the new saplings survive.
More than 450,000 native trees will be planted in the Australian rainforest over the next 25 years, creating wildlife corridors that will trap carbon and protect the Great Barrier Reef.
Before partnering with Prism they were not reaching their fundraising potential in the UK. Now they can claim gift aid which adds 25p to every pound.
Impact
Climate Force are leading the way in ecological tracking as they gather and input data from various sources, relating to species diversity and carbon storage potential, and organise it into a centralised database.To capture the information they are using the most cutting edge agricultural technology from drones to Virtual reality to capture data and share knowledge.
By creating an open source of research data and making their findings accessible to all, they hope to accelerate development of affordable nature based solutions.
